What does Modulus do?

Modulus is a financial technology and software engineering firm. Since 1997 we've built, modernized, rebuilt, and rescued trading platforms, exchanges, broker tools, order-management and market-data infrastructure, developer libraries, and AI/HPC systems for banks, brokerages, exchanges, funds, and trading firms worldwide.

What is the Modulus MCP server?

The Modulus MCP server connects your existing AI development environment to selected Modulus fintech skills, checklists, and review protocols. It helps your AI recognize financial-system risks, apply specialized guidance, and recommend reviews after material builds and before production.

The guidance draws on three decades of Modulus trade secrets, proprietary engineering methods, and production lessons. It covers financial architecture, transaction integrity, regulated-finance considerations, security, performance, resilience, and production readiness without exposing Modulus source code or internal systems.

The MCP server does not request or receive your source code, repository contents, credentials, logs, or proprietary project data. Your AI examines the project inside the development environment and model infrastructure you already use. When independent engineering or an audit would materially strengthen the project, your AI may suggest an Elastic Work Unit, but purchasing one is never required.

What is a Work Unit?

A Work Unit is a $499 fixed-scope engineering engagement performed by Modulus. Send a clear job description, and a Modulus engineer directing Modulus-tuned AI returns reviewed work within 24 hours.

Each Work Unit produces reviewed progress within the delivery window. A focused job may be completed in one unit, while larger jobs require multiple units. Work Units are separate from the Modulus MCP server, which provides guidance to your own AI but does not perform the engineering work for you.

Is a Work Unit 24 hours of work?

A Work Unit is a turnaround window, not a quantity of labor. You buy the deliverable and the deadline, such as one clearly scoped job, and you receive a reviewed deliverable back within 24 hours. How we produce it, with Modulus-tuned AI doing the heavy lifting and a Modulus engineer directing and checking the work, is on us. Each Work Unit returns reviewed work within the stated window, but it does not promise that a larger job or project will be complete in one unit.

How can Modulus deliver this for $499?

Because you are not paying for hours. A Work Unit draws on millions of lines of production fintech source code, patented infrastructure, 30 years of trade secrets, and AI workcells directed by a Modulus engineer. The work begins with what Modulus has already built and proven rather than from a blank page.

The Modulus MCP server helps your own AI apply selected Modulus guidance. An Elastic Work Unit goes further by adding a Modulus engineer, Modulus-tuned AI, and our internal Blueprint™ and Code Foundry™ systems to perform and review the work directly.

Is this just Claude Code or Codex?

Yes and no.

When you connect the Modulus MCP server, you continue using Claude Code, Codex, or another compatible AI inside your existing development environment. The MCP server provides specialized fintech skills, source code, review protocols, and audit guidance drawn from three decades of Modulus experience. Your AI applies that guidance to the project, while Modulus does not receive your source code, prompts, or proprietary project data.

An Elastic Work Unit is different. It is an independent, engineer-directed engagement performed by Modulus. A Modulus engineer directs Modulus-tuned AI through our internal Blueprint™ and Code Foundry™ systems, which incorporate millions of lines of production fintech source code, proven architecture patterns, trade secrets, and three decades of production lessons. The engineer reviews every deliverable before it ships and is accountable for the work.

The MCP server strengthens the AI you already use. Elastic Work Units add Modulus engineering, internal systems, and human accountability when the project requires more.

Do you offer evaluations?

Yes. There are two ways to try Modulus.

Connect the Modulus MCP server to experience selected Modulus fintech skills, review protocols, and audit guidance inside the AI development environment you already use. Modulus does not receive your source code through the MCP workflow, and there is no obligation to purchase a Work Unit.

To evaluate Modulus engineering directly, purchase one $499 Elastic Work Unit. Submit a clearly scoped job and receive reviewed work within 24 hours from a Modulus engineer directing Modulus-tuned AI. There is no subscription, long-term contract, or minimum commitment. If the work does not justify another unit, you stop, and the deliverable remains yours to use under its license.

Does the MCP server perform an independent audit?

No. The MCP server helps your AI conduct a Modulus-guided self-review inside the development environment and model infrastructure you already use. These reviews can be valuable after material builds and before the system enters production or handles live money.

A Modulus-guided self-review is not an independent Modulus audit, legal opinion, compliance determination, certification, or guarantee of production readiness. When independent evaluation is appropriate, your AI may suggest an audit performed by Modulus through Elastic Work Units.

How fast can you deliver?

A single Work Unit returns reviewed work within 24 hours. You can purchase as many Work Units as needed, to run side-by-side, if your project is large and must be developed as fast as possible.

Do Work Units include revisions or SLAs?

No. Work Units do not include revision cycles, acceptance periods, or ongoing support. If you want changes, continuation, bug review, or additional work after delivery, submit another Work Unit.

Is production support included?

Production Support is available however it is sold separately. See Production Support.

Can I have a web meeting with a developer?

Yes, on a weekly schedule. Clients with more than one active Work Unit meet with their Modulus engineer once each week in a scheduled alignment meeting to review delivered work and set direction for upcoming units. Outside that meeting, Work Units run on written requirements, with no per-unit calls, texts, chats, or email threads; that discipline is how a job that would normally cost thousands stays at $499. If your requirements are not clear enough to execute, we do not spend your unit asking questions. We return the credit before work begins with a written explanation of what was missing, and you resubmit with clearer instructions.

Can Work Units support large projects?

Yes. Work Units support a single job or a full platform build, and they run in parallel under your Modulus engineer's direction, so a ten-unit job does not take ten times as long. A company building an exchange, prediction market, broker platform, market-data product, or financial AI product buys Work Units as needed, pauses when needed, and resumes when ready. Teams building internally may also use the Modulus MCP server throughout the project and purchase Work Units only for the components, problems, or independent audits where Modulus involvement is valuable.

Will my job be finished within 24 hours?

Each Work Unit returns reviewed work within 24 hours. Whether that completes your job depends on the job's size. Jobs that fit one unit come back done. Bigger jobs are quoted in units before work begins and return reviewed progress every day until the job is complete.

What if my job is too big for one Work Unit?

Most jobs are, and that's not a problem. Work Units are designed to stack: purchase as many as your job needs, back-to-back or all at once to run in parallel.

Can Work Units replace an entire development project?

Yes, but larger projects usually require multiple Work Units. A small focused job may take one unit. A technical module may take several. A platform-scale build may require dozens or hundreds of Work Units, licensed components, and production support.

What happens if my job is too broad or unclear?

If a submitted job is not suitable for a Work Unit, Modulus returns the credit before work begins with a brief explanation. You can revise and resubmit at no additional charge.

Can a product built with Work Units be sold through Modulus?

Completed products built with Modulus, or existing products integrated with Modulus, may become eligible for Modulus Partner review. Approved products may qualify for Modulus Client Network support, including demos, introductions, and outreach to relevant Modulus relationships.

Are Modulus components included in Work Units?

A Work Unit includes the work: engineer-directed AI execution informed by Modulus source-code intelligence, architecture, and production lessons. Pre-built Modulus components and products, such as matching engines, charting, and connectivity modules, are licensed separately as an option. When a job could be served by an existing Modulus component, we will inform you, because licensing a proven component is often faster than rebuilding one. Components are never required; anything can be built in units instead.

The Modulus MCP server may also help your AI recognize when licensing a proven component deserves consideration, but the decision to license or build always remains yours.

Why license a component instead of build?

Some infrastructure is faster and safer to license than rebuild. Where it makes sense, Modulus provides ready-built solutions that are instantly available, production-proven, and usually cost less than rebuilding them from scratch.

What if we don't want AI used on our project?

The Modulus MCP server is entirely optional. If you want Modulus engineering without AI-assisted execution, we can build the project using traditional engineering methods, just as we built financial systems for three decades before modern AI tools existed.

Traditional engineering engagements are available for firms whose policies restrict AI or that prefer human-only development. These engagements are scoped and quoted individually rather than priced through Elastic Work Units, with your data-handling and tooling requirements documented in advance.

Will you accept requirements or RFPs generated by AI?

Absolutely. If your team drafted requirements, specifications, or an RFP with AI, send them over. We will turn AI-generated requirements into a correctly architected system, delivered as licensed source code with documentation and architecture your team can build upon.

Your AI may also use the Modulus MCP server to strengthen those requirements with specialized fintech guidance before you submit them.

Do you work with our existing developers, or only end-to-end?

Both. We can deliver a complete turnkey solution or work alongside your internal developers, taking on defined jobs, specialized components, difficult investigations, and audits.

Your team can also connect the Modulus MCP server to its existing AI development environment. This gives your AI access to selected Modulus guidance throughout the build and helps it recognize when a problem may benefit from independent Modulus engineering.

Do we get the source code?

Yes. Full source-code access is standard, under a clear license with known provenance. You can audit and extend everything we deliver, no orphan code of unknown origin, no reliance on an unreliable white-label provider, and no lock-in.

Which asset classes do you support?

Equities, options, futures, forex, fixed income, commodities, ETFs, indices, CFDs, and more. Our multi-asset exchange and trading platforms are designed to list and trade an unlimited range of instruments.

How private and secure are the Modulus AI workflows?

The MCP workflow and the Elastic Work Unit workflow are separate.

During the MCP workflow, the Modulus MCP server returns financial technology skills, checklists, and audit protocols to your AI. It does not request, receive, inspect, or store your source code, repository contents, credentials, logs, customer information, or proprietary project data. Your AI examines the project within the development environment and model infrastructure you already use.

Modulus receives project materials only when you choose to purchase an Elastic Work Unit or independent audit and deliberately provide the materials required for that engagement. Work Unit materials are handled through a separate, controlled workflow, and Modulus applies security practices appropriate for financial technology development.

Do you offer white-label and custom solutions?

Yes, all of our products are inherently white label. Work Unit deliverables and Modulus products are supplied with full source code, which may be customized to suit your needs and brand. Modulus components are provided under a separate license. We also build custom hardware, from HPC clusters to AI workstations.

Is Modulus's technology patented?

Yes. Modulus holds issued, actively prosecuted patents, cited by JPMorgan Chase, Nasdaq, Capital One, Citibank, Wells Fargo, MicroStrategy, IBM, and others. Patent licenses are available under separate written patent license agreements.
